This Privacy Policy explains how ShopCantonOnline.com ("SCO", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit our website, save favorites, create a shopper account, claim or manage a vendor listing, or use other SCO services. Effective date: [ADD PUBLICATION DATE].
SCO is a product-discovery and vendor-directory platform. Shoppers generally purchase directly from independent vendors on their own websites, not through SCO. Those vendors have separate privacy practices.
Information we collect
Information you provide: shopper account information; vendor and business information such as names, descriptions, booth or store locations, public website links, selected contact details, promotional photos, and product details; support messages; and information submitted for claims and approvals.
Social sign-in: when you choose an enabled provider, such as Google, we receive the account details necessary to create or sign you into your SCO account, subject to your choices and the provider’s policies. We do not receive your Google password.
Usage and device information: requests and interactions with business and product pages, outbound website clicks, map and directions actions, badge referral visits, and when visitors choose to reveal public contact details. We use technical information to limit bots and repeated counts.
Favorites: guest favorites are stored in browser storage; when you sign in, eligible favorites may be saved to your WordPress account and synchronized across devices. Clearing browser storage can remove guest-only favorites.
Analytics and location
Vendor reports contain aggregated interactions such as profile and product views, website clicks, map requests, and saves. Metrics are not confirmed sales or necessarily unique people.
SCO currently does not intentionally store raw visitor IP addresses in its vendor analytics event table. Short-lived processing of technical identifiers may be used to reduce repeat counts and abuse. Web hosting, security tools, and third-party services may maintain separate logs under their own retention and security practices.
SCO has deferred IP-based geographic analytics. We do not currently offer vendor reports identifying shoppers by city or state from IP location. Booth and business location information is about vendors, not a shopper’s live location.
How we use information
Operate the directory, vendor profiles, product listings, maps, favorites, and accounts.
Authenticate users, review vendor claims, manage vendor permissions, prevent fraud or abuse, and provide support.
Provide vendors with aggregated performance statistics and maintain service reliability.
Manage subscriptions, trial eligibility, billing records, and payment status if paid subscriptions are introduced.
Send necessary service, security, transactional, billing, and renewal communications. Optional marketing messages will be handled according to your preferences and applicable law.
Public business information
Vendor business names, descriptions, products, promotional photographs, approved booth/store location information, and provided website links may be publicly displayed.
Vendors can separately choose whether phone and email contact details may be revealed publicly. A click-to-reveal mechanism helps discourage basic scraping but cannot guarantee that public contact information will not be collected by automated systems.
Vendors should not upload sensitive personal information or photographs without appropriate rights and permissions.
Service providers and third parties
WordPress/WooCommerce and our web host support site operation. Approved payment providers such as Stripe or PayPal may process subscription billing when activated; SCO does not need to store full payment card numbers when checkout is hosted by those providers.
Google Maps provides mapping and directions; Google social sign-in, if used, is subject to Google’s terms and privacy policy. External product links take shoppers to independent vendor websites.
When enabled, embedded video providers such as YouTube or Vimeo may receive information when their content loads. OpenAI may process vendor-submitted product photos and descriptions for the optional AI Listing Assistant.
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect users, investigate misuse, or support a business transition, subject to applicable legal requirements.
Cookies, local storage and choices
We and service providers may use cookies and browser storage for login sessions, security, preferences, and Favorites. You can manage cookies and site data through your browser, but disabling them may affect account and Favorites features.
To correct business information or manage publicly revealed phone/email information, use My Profile when authorized. To request access, correction, or deletion of account data, contact us. Some records may need to be retained for legal, tax, security, or dispute reasons.
Retention and security
Raw first-party vendor analytics events are intended to be retained for approximately 90 days; summarized reporting and operational records may be retained longer where needed. This does not necessarily control separate web-server, security, processor, or backup retention.
We use reasonable safeguards, but no internet service is completely secure. Do not send payment card details or account passwords through support messages.
Children and regional privacy rights
SCO is intended for a general audience and not directed to children under 13. Please contact us if you believe a child provided personal data inappropriately.
